Why strong students still struggle with the first job

Why high‑achieving students still struggle with their first job (and what parents can do differently)
We all know a version of this story:
A student with good grades, internships and activities
Parents who have invested heavily in education
But when graduation comes… the job search stalls
CVs are sent. Silence.
Interviews happen, but no offers.
Everyone becomes anxious, and sometimes things get tense at home.
From my experience in executive search / headhunting and career coaching across Asia Pacific and global markets, I see three common gaps – even for strong students:
Unclear positioning
They can describe their degree, but struggle to explain what roles they are really suited for and why a company should choose them.
CV and LinkedIn look like a school report, not a hiring tool
Recruiters and hiring managers scan quickly. Without clear relevance, results and fit, good candidates are often overlooked.
No practice telling their story
Interviews are not exams. They are about stories, judgement and confidence. Very few students are trained in this.
This is why I created two structured 1‑to‑1 programmes for students and fresh graduates, commissioned by parents:
Core Career Launch – focused, time‑bound, practical:
Career direction & target roles
CV and LinkedIn upgrade
Interview preparation and a short, clear action plan
Premium Career Accelerator – for more complex or competitive situations:
Deeper diagnostics and planning (with parents involved)
Multiple CV versions and a story‑based interview process
Ongoing guidance over several months, including job‑search strategy and decision support
Both are built around how employers, hiring managers and headhunters actually think, and can be tailored for Asia Pacific or other global markets, depending on each student’s goals.

履歷寄咗好多份,無聲無息;
有面試,但 無 offer;
(Core Career Launch)
(Premium Career Accelerator)
